A few days in Atlanta, Georgia.

This is part of the London to Belize and Guatemala trip December 2019. http://dickandsuegotravelling.com/2019/12/detroit-usa-to-belize-2019.html

Atlanta, Georgia

A short afternoon flight on Delta DL1116 from MDW Chicago Midway to ATL Atlanta we grab a taxi for 35 US Dollars and go to the north of Atlanta to The Highland Inn, 644, North Highland Avenue. http://thehighlandinn.com/ We are here for 2 nights, at about $90 per night. A few days in Atlanta, Georgia.

The rooms are small and in need of a lick of paint, and the leg room when seated on the toilet leaves a lot to be desired. But to be fair, the place was ok.

Dinner is taken locally at Manuel’s Tavern, just up the road. http://manuelstavern.com/ I had a burger, which as usual I thought was a snack, but the restaurant had other ideas. It was huge!

I must admit the only downside was I hadn’t quite worked out the tip regime, being British, and the waitress was less than impressed with me. Sorry! Great selection of beers.

The next morning we take a walk around town taking in the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. We got there by walking down the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail. https://www.atlantatrails.com/atlanta-running-walking-trails/atlanta-beltline-eastside-trail/

This trail is great for everybody, I had seen a few places I wasn’t happy with in Atlanta but this was full of people walking dogs, cycling, running, etc.

On route we had brunch in The Corner Tavern, Edgewood, I had the breakfast Burrito. Fantastic.   http://www.thecornertavern.com/edgewood/

Afterwards we took a walk to the Krog Street Market for a few beers. https://krogstreetmarket.com/

The Wrecking Bar Brew Pub

In the evening we went to The Wrecking Bar Brew Pub, which is about a safe 10 minutes walk from the equally safe Highland Inn Hotel. There we had entertainment, fine beers and wine, and live music. Great food as well. Well worth a visit. http://www.wreckingbarbrewpub.com/

The following day we take a very cheap Uber car to Atlanta Airport for our onward flight to Belize.
